Marva Langevine, Director and Trustee of CHFC, is a compassionate young woman dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of those affected by grief and loss. As a Spanish teacher studying psychology, she strives to support families navigating the pain of losing a loved one.

Driven by the memory of her dear friend Mikiesha, who lost her battle with cancer in 2014, Marva felt compelled to help Mikiesha's two young sons face the harsh realities of life without their mother. This motivation led her to champion childhood bereavement awareness and establish The Guyana Golden Live Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting grieving children, widows, and families. Her participation in the 2016 Miss World Guyana pageant earned her the Beauty with a Purpose Award, helping her raise awareness for her cause.

Marva holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education and is pursuing a Diploma in Psychology. In 2018, she attended the 10th UNESCO Youth Forum in Paris, advocating for heritage preservation among youth. She also collaborates with Women’s Wednesday Guyana and Covenant Home for Children, earning recognition through the prestigious Queen’s Young Leaders Award.

Now an experienced mentor, Marva continues to passionately drive her mission, aiming to broaden her impact on childhood grief and loss, offering hope and support to those in need.

Covenant Home for Children (CHFC) is a faith-based charitable organization deeply committed to impacting the lives of youth through a love-driven approach. This mission is rooted in the compassion our founders have for those who are voiceless and unable to change their circumstances.

We mourn the loss of our beloved First Lady, Mrs. Lavone Seetal, who passed away on December 17th, 2020. For over twenty-five years, Lavone and her husband Walter worked together to turn their vision of a charity and children’s home in Guyana into reality.

Lavone dedicated her life to uplifting youth through music and education. With degrees from Loyola Marymount University and Howard University, she eventually earned her Master of Music Education from Azusa Pacific University in 2018 while serving as a faculty member. Her talents as a Music Teacher and Choir Director allowed her to connect with young people in meaningful ways.

In addition to her work with CHFC, Lavone provided monthly support to bereaved children through the Guyana Golden Lives Organization, personally purchasing essential supplies for those in need. Her unwavering dedication and kindness will continue to inspire our mission.

In honor of Lavone’s incredible contributions of love and song, we are proud to rename our bereavement fund to the “Lavone Seetal Bereavement Fund.”
